Fire Muster Days

So we packed up our folding beach chairs, water guns and gear and headed to the big city of St. Thomas on the weekend to take in the fire muster parade. We went on to Pinafore Park to see the trucks up close and see the old cars as well. Just like last year, there were rides, competitions, face painting, a dog show and entertainment-not to mention the best ice cream ever(yes..even better than dairy queen). The kids had a great time. The parade was especially loud this year as it was such a beautiful day and all the spectators wanted to hear some noise. Andrew didn't particularly appreciate this much noise and Katie hid behind one of the chairs on occasion with her hands over her ears. At least we know their hearing is good. Deanna LOVED it! She did her usual hand clasp, gitty excited pose with a grin from ear to ear. It was a great weekend to see some of our favorite emergency service workers. Let's just say they are pretty handy with guns too! Greg even managed to throw a bucket of water at them and they had a few surprises of their own. We started firing off the water guns thinking there were only two or three on some trucks with their own-SURPRISE. In one case, 3 or 4 more people popped up and fired water at us with a full fledged hose! Just wait for next year because we will have the hose ready with the pressure valve to release when needed-Watch out firefighters....we're gonna soak ya! It was a great treat to have C.J. and Kai with Aunt Shawna(who was ecstatic as you can see). Kai did not enjoy getting wet at the expense of his daddy. We better keep him back a little next year because it will get quite wet!

What is there not to love. Fire trucks. Sirens. A Parade (including candy) family and water on a hot day!
The Ferwerda Four enjoyed the festivities on the other end of town. Jake was a little suprised when water was thrown overboard instead of candy!
